I like flavorless carbonated water too but I also make my own flavors from those powdered drinks that you can find in almost any store. I really like the A&W Root beer flavor brand powder. It's practically indistinguishable from the store bought cans or bottles. Only the creamy thickness is missing, but it's pretty close and foamy if you do it right. Experiment with other flavors as well with unlimited varieties and combinations. Don't just dump the powder into the carbonated water bottle or it will overflow with foam and make a mess. Just put a small portion of water(carbonated or plain) in a tall glass, an ounce or so, mix with the powder until fully dissolved or a thin slurry, then fill up the glass with the carbonated water the same way you would using the bottled syrups. Or pour the slurry into the bottle, tipping it slightly to reduce the carbonation from bubbling out (dissolving with carbonated water reduces the chance of overflow too). Replace the cap, you're done. Practice makes perfect. Doing this to your liking may or may not take a few tries to get the desired flavor profile. Add more or less flavored powder and soda to taste. No need to spend a small fortune collecting all those bottles of syrup flavors that have expiration dates once opened and require a large space for storage. The powders last years if stored properly and are ready to make whatever flavor you feel like on demand. Also, if you like lemon/lime you can use the liquid concentrates or powder varieties. Even make your own fresh fruit flavors. Experiment and enjoy! Cheers!
